Narrative

Background (family, education, important life events):
Hester was born in Rochester, NY December 12, 1900. Her parents are Abigail and Gilroy O'Connor. She was the youngest of four children, with three older brothers Alec, Fitz, and Jack. At age two, Hester contracted measles, and one of her eyes was permanently damaged. When Hester was just four years old, her mother passed away from consumption. With only men in the household now, Hester grew up to be a bit of a tomboy. It was a struggle for the family, and two of the sons, Jack and Alec, went off to find work after they had graduated from high school. Just as Hester graduated from high school in 1918 however, there was an accident at Jack and Alec's workplace. The two died. Hester was especially affected by the death of Jack, who had been her role model growing up. Already fairly reserved, Hester withdrew from others even more after he older brothers' death.
She enrolled in RAMI in the fall of 1918. She wanted to do something that involved mathematics, but her father discouraged it, and so she majored in the Fine Arts.

Current Biography (ca. 1921):
Hester is in her third year at RAMI, diligently working on her artwork. She also has several personal projects she's working on, hoping that she can finish her work soon. Over the past few years, Hester had abandoned several of her personal projects. On top of this, Hester is searching for employment as a means of making some money before she graduates from college next spring.
