Once a year, on September 19th (the day his mother disappeared), he makes a public appearance to conduct a public concert, nearly everyone in Rochester attends. His music is extremely popular and loved by all.

Herman was healthy and very social when he was younger. He fell ill with a rare autoimmune disease while he was studying music at the Eastman School of Music. Around the same time he lost his mother. Ever since then he has become more and more reclusive and withdrawn.

His mother was a famous singer who suddenly and mysteriously disappeared when Herman was a teenager. It was widely speculated that his father was behind the disappearance. After graduating from Eastman, Herman murdered his father. Everyone in Rochester knows that he did it, but the police could never prove it.

He inherited vast wealth from family money. His father was one of the first people to invest in steam powered rail, he dominated the market and made a killing. His father left equal parts to him and his siblings.
