Description (ca. 1921): Created in 1888 by Frederic Olmstead, this park provided a way for all Rochesterians to escape the smoggy and dirty downtown area. The park was planned to have two sides, one was open, similar to a pasture, the other was for recreation. The recreational side recently got a boost in 1918 when the public golf course was expanded to 18 holes.
