Description (ca. 1921):
The Genesee River is a major river that flows through central Rochester. The river's two sources are in Pennsylvania, and it makes its way up through western New York state and ends at Lake Ontario. The river is not often used for transportation (the Erie Canal being used more so) due to the three waterfalls located within the Rochester area. These are the High Falls (located near the Pont De Rennes Bridge), the Middle Falls (located in Letchworth State Park), and the Low Falls (located in Maplewood Park).
