Description (ca. 1921):
A 1920 football was traditionally made out of cowhide leather, and it is tanned to have a natural brown cover. For grip, there are leather or polyvinyl chloride laces in the middle. Of course, footballs are necessary to play football. In Rochester, there was a local sandlot football league. One team in particular, the Rochester Jeffersons, had some further success. In fact, they actually played in the NFL for 5 years (albeit they had several very poor seasons).
