Biography (ca. 1921): Born in Sicily[1] , Alfio Boscarino came to make a name for himself in Rochester for his illegal exploits, which most importantly are his bootlegging and distilling activities. With his nickname “The King of Bootleggers”, he has become synonymous with the city’s alcohol trade.

His supply of booze is mainly homemade spirits, ran somewhere outside Rochester that is rumored to hold up to 3,000 gallons of illicit drink. Constantly hounded and wanted by the police, he has become hero to some and a villain to others, especially competing crime organizations, despite his relatively solitary work. This led to his less-known nickname, “Lucky”, as he’s been ambushed numerous times, shot once, and lived, among his numerous escapes from the authorities.
